Ulken-Karoi

Ul’ken-Karoi

 

a bitter lake in Kokchetav Oblast, Kazakh SSR. The lake has an area of 4.6 sq km. It has a round shape with an island in the center. The Karasu River empties into the lake from the south. The lakeshores are level, weakly indented, and surrounded by an area of solonchaks. The lake is shallow and has a silty false bottom. It dries up in years with little rainfall.
