Wasserstein, Bruce

(1947– ) investment banker; born in New York City. A graduate of the University of Michigan (1967) and Harvard Business School (1971), he joined the First Boston Corp. in 1977, rising to managing director and becoming, with colleague Joseph Perella, a noted leveraged buyout specialist. He and Perella formed their own firm, Wasserstein, Perella & Co., in 1988. The author of Corporate Finance Law, he was a brother of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein.
