Water Drill

Water Drill

a device for making holes with jets of water for planting seedlings and grape cuttings. It can also be used for deep irrigation and for the injection of mineral nutrients for fertilization and pesticide solutions for controlling pests and root-system diseases of grapes and berry-and-fruit crops.

A water drill consists of a vertical pipe with a hydraulic excavating bit and a nozzle at one end. At the end is a transverse pipe (handle) with a sleeve. Liquid is forced by pressure from a tank through a hose connected to the transverse pipe. The connecting pipe has a valve that is raised (opened) when liquid enters the drill. It can be operated from a sprinkler or tank.
