Special Features:Watts Towers, which consists of a complex set of 17 separate sculpturalpieces built on a residential lot in the community of Watts, is thework of Italian immigrant Simon Rodia. Using steel pipes and rods,wrapped with wire mesh, coated with mortar, and decorated with piecesof porcelain, tile, and glass, Rodia spent more than 30 years,beginning in 1921, building this tribute to his adopted country. WattsTowers is one of only nine works of folk art listed on the NationalRegister of Historic Places.
