Wawa Al-Dimashki
(al-Wawa), Abu-al-Faraj Muhammad ibn-Ahmad. Year of birth unknown; died 980 in Damascus. Arab poet. Excerpts from his poems appear in the Thousand and One Nights. Besides panegyrical qasidas, he wrote many lyrical poems about love, wine, and nature that are distinguished for their liveliness and depth of feeling and that call for the enjoyment of life.
