White Carpathian Mountains

 

(Bile Karpaty), a mountain range in the West Carpathians in Czechoslovakia. Its maximum elevation, at Velká Javořina Mountain, is 970 m. The range is 75 km long, and from 20 to 30 km wide. It is bounded by the valley of the Váh River on the southeast. The White Carpathians are composed of sandstone and schist. The peaks are flattened, and the slopes are gradual. There are forests of oak and beech and grazing grounds.
