释义 | Whitney, AnneWhitney, Anne(1821–1915) sculptor, poet; born in Watertown, Mass. Educated by tutors, she published poetry (1847–59), studied anatomy with William Rimmer in Boston (1862–64), and opened a studio there (1871). She made several trips to Europe and Italy (1867–76) and utilized her abolitionist and suffragist beliefs in her sculptures, as in Roma (1869). She returned to Boston and worked until her early eighties. |
