Zaporozhets
Zaporozhets
(Ukrainian, Zaporozhets’), a compact passenger car manufactured by the Zaporozh’e Automobile Plant. The first Zaporozhets model (ZAZ-965) was produced in 1960. The Zaporozhets was the first car in the history of Soviet automobile construction to have a rear-mounted engine and independent suspension of all four wheels. All models have four-cycle, four-cylinder V-engines with forced air cooling and a counterbalancing mechanism that allows the production of a light and compact engine (see Table 1). The Zaporozhets has an all-metal two-door body and seats four.
