Zemedelsko Zname
(Agrarian Banner), a Bulgarian daily newspaper, the organ of the Bulgarian Agrarian People’s League. The newspaper was founded in 1902 in the city of Stara Zagora essentially under the leadership of A. Stamboliiski, who became the official editor in chief in 1904. Published in Sofia from 1907, Zemedelsko zname did not appear from 1915 to 1917, was banned after the fascist coup d’etat of June 19, 1923, and resumed publication in 1924–25 (on a regular basis from 1926). Banned once more after the coup d’etat of May 19, 1934, Zemedelsko zname has been published from September 1944 as an organ of the Bulgarian Agrarian People’s League. Circulation, 178,000(1971).
