aerobic fitness

Aerobic Fitness

A value obtained from exercise testing, which is expressed as either VO2peak (O2 consumption at peak exercise), or Wpeak (peak work capacity) or tolerance, expressed as a percentage of normal. Aerobic fitness is a potential prognostic tool in cystic fibrosis.
In cystic fibrosis, 83% of patients with the highest levels of AF (VO2 peak ≥ 82% of predicted) survived 8 years, compared to 28% survival at 8 years in those with the lowest AF (VO2 peak ≤ 58% of predicted).
