Archaeanactids

rulers of the Bosporus state from 480 to 438 B.C. The ancestor of the Archaeanactids was apparently Archaeanactus, a member of an aristocratic Greek clan, who had moved from Miletus and settled at Pan-ticapaeum (present-day Kerch). The Archaeanactids were the leaders of the federation of independent Greek colonies, or poleis, which were located around Panticapaeum at the beginning of the fifth century B.C. These poleis were located on both sides of the Cimmerian Bosporus, and they formed the nucleus of the Bosporus state. The official title of the Archaeanactids is unknown.
