Bish-Iirdu

Bish-Iirdu

 

a mountain group in the Severo-Chuiskii Range of the Altai (Gorno-Altai Autonomous Oblast). Altitude, 4,173 m. Bish-Iirdu is an important center of glaciation (more than 130 sq km; over 80 glaciers). The glaciers are located mainly on the northern and northeastern slopes of the ranges; the largest glacier, the Bol’shoi Maashei (length, 10 km; area, 15 sq km), descends from the northern slope.
