Ferdinand V

Known as "Ferdinand the Catholic." 1452-1516. King of Castile and León (1474-1504) who ruled jointly with his wife, Isabella I. He was also king of Sicily (1468-1516) and Aragon (1479-1516) as Ferdinand II and of Naples (1504-1516) as Ferdinand III. Ferdinand and Isabella united two kingdoms with their marriage and inaugurated the modern Spanish state. They expelled Muslims and Jews from Spain and sponsored Christopher Columbus's voyages.
