CallionymidaeCallionymidaea family of fishes of the order Percomor-phi. The body is elongated (up to 35 cm), scaleless, and brightly colored. The pelvic fins are located in front of the pectoral fins. The fishes have marked dimorphism. There are ten genera, comprising approximately 45 species, distributed in the coastal parts of seas of the temperate and tropical zones. The dragonet Cal-lionymus festivis is found in the USSR in the Black Sea. Fishes of this family spawn in the summer; the eggs are pelagic. These fishes feed on small invertebrates.
