DPWS

(Devices Profile for Web Services) A subset of Web services that enables mobile devices to connect to printers, scanners and other peripherals that support the Web Services on Devices (WSD) protocol. Similar to the UPnP protocol for discovering available functions on the network, DPWS applications use the Web Services on Devices API (WSDAPI) programming interface and Web Services Dynamic Discovery (WS-Discovery) to locate the service functions.
