Cosmic Anisotropy Telescope

Cosmic Anisotropy Telescope

(CAT) A three-element interferometer operating at frequencies between 13 and 17 GHz and on baselines of 1 to 5 m. Located at the Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory near Cambridge, England, CAT measured primordial temperature variations in the cosmic microwave background radiation. Its first set of results was published in 1996, followed by a second set in 1999. The telescope was turned off and partly dismantled in 2000.
