Anton Gogiashvili
Gogiashvili, Anton Ivanovich
Born Dec. 2 (14), 1878, in Tbilisi; died there Dec. 28, 1907 (Jan. 10, 1908). Georgian realist graphic artist.
From 1901 to 1906, Gogiashvili studied at the Tbilisi Art School. His many drawings include scenes of peasant life, landscapes, sketches of architectural monuments in Georgia, and illustrations for the works of Vazha Pshavela, I. Chavchavadze, and R. Eristavi. Several of his drawings are devoted to the Revolution of 1905-07 in Georgia (Gurians Hiding in the Forest and Pogrom, both done in 1906, in the Museum of Art of the Georgian SSR, Tbilisi).
