1. progressively fatal spasmodic disorder, possibly of malarial origin, occurring chiefly in Italy; 2. a severe form of Sydenham chorea, in which the spasms are rapid and of a specially jerky character.

Sudden, rhythmic, involuntary contractions, in rapid succession, of a group or groups of muscles, starting at an extremity or half of the face, and covering a large part or all of the body.
