Council of Action

the name for an organization created by British workers in 1920 to oppose Great Britain’s involvement in the anti-Soviet intervention. The pressure the workers brought to bear through the councils of action forced the British government to refrain from any direct intervention on the side of Poland in the Polish-Soviet War of 1920 (seeHANDS OFF RUSSIA).
