Drevniaia I Novaia Rossiia

 

(Ancient and New Russia), a monthly illustrated historical journal published in St. Petersburg from 1875 to March 1881. The journal carried articles on the history, archaeology, and ethnology of the peoples of Russia, documentary materials, and memoirs. It devoted a great deal of space to questions dealing with the history of culture and modes of life. In the section on criticism and bibliography, the journal featured reviews of the works of Russian and foreign authors on Russian history. Among the well-known scholars who contributed to the magazine were S. M. Solov’ev, K. N. Bestuzhev-Riumin, N. I. Kostomarov, I. E. Zabelin, N. la. Aristov, and V. I. Ger’e.
