Born early 12th century in Khaveran, in Khorasan; died late 12th century in Balkh. Persian-language poet.

Anvari, author of a large divan, was one of the creators and outstanding masters of a new, rhetorical “Iraqi” style of panegyric poetry. However, he renounced the style at the end of his life and condemned it in a special cycle of poems in the qit’ah genre.
