Botocudo
Botocudo
Borun, an Indian tribe whose members formerly lived in eastern Brazil (present state of Espirito Santo). They spoke dialects of Botocudo.
The Botocudo engaged in food gathering, catching fish, hunting, and some farming. As a result of European colonization, almost all of the Botocudos were annihilated or died out. At the turn of the 20th century, the survivors were settled on reservations. By the middle of the 20th century the Botocudos had ceased to exist as a separate ethnic group.
