an urban-type settlement and center of Asht Raion, northern Tadzhik SSR. Asht is located near the foot of the Kuraminskii Range, and 45 km north of the Rapkan railroad station (on the Khavast-Kokand line). The settlement had 4,400 inhabitants in 1968. A canning factory is located here.
