Bovt, Violetta Trofimovna

 

Born May 9, 1927, in Los Angeles, Calif. Soviet ballerina. People’s Artist of the USSR (1970).

In 1944, Bovt graduated from the Moscow Choreographic School, where she studied under M. A. Kozhukhova. Upon graduation she was accepted into the company of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Musical Theater. Her roles have included Odette-Odile in Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and the title roles in Pugni’s La Esmeralda (with interpolated music by Gliére and Vasilenko), Vasilenko’s Lola, and Peiko’s Jeanne d’Arc, as well as Natasha in Spadavecchia’s Shore of Happiness.

Bovt has been awarded two orders and several medals.
