Dauria
Dauria
or land of the Daurs, the Russian name for Transbaikalia and part of the Amur region (in the river basins of the Shilka, Argun’, Zeia, Bureia, and partly the Sungari and Ussuri). Until the middle of the 17th century it was inhabited primarily by the Daurs (Dakhurs). The later name Dauria was retained only for Transbaikalia; the territory of southern Transbaikalia from Lake Baikal to the Iablonov Range is otherwise called Baikal Dauria, the territory east of the Iablonov Range, Nerchin Dauria, and the southernmost section of Baikal Dauria east of the Selenga River, Selenga Dauria.
