Dry Offset
dry offset
[¦drī ′ȯf‚set]Dry Offset
a printing method in which the printing is done from letterpress or relief through an intermediate elastic surface (offset cylinder). Unlike offset lithography, dry offset does not require dampening of the plate. The printing is done on materials of varying smoothness and with less pressure than is used for letterpress printing. This increases the durability of the printing forms and virtually excludes makeready.
