Ershov, Andrei Petrovich

 

Born Apr. 19, 1931, in Moscow. Soviet mathematician. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1970).

Ershov graduated from Moscow University in 1954. In 1969 he became a professor at the University of Novosibirsk. Ershov is recognized as a specialist in the field of the theory and automation of programming. He headed a number of projects dealing with the mathematical foundations of electronic computers. Ershov is a foreign member of the Association for Computing Machinery (USA, since 1965). He has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
