diabetic mastopathy

diabetic mastopathy

A condition characterised by often bilateral indurated but painless masses in the breast, seen mostly in insulin-dependent diabetics, which consists of
• Lymphocytic vasculitis,
• Sclerosing lymphocytic lobulitis
• Stromal keloidal fibrosis with plump epithelioid myofibroblasts.
Other changes seen in diabetic mastopathy include keloids, periductal and lobular lymphocytic infiltrates.
