Agasiev, Kazi Magomed

 

Born 1882; died Sept. 19, 1918. An active participant in the struggle for Soviet rule in the Caucasus.

Agasiev was born into the family of an artisan in Akhty, Dagestan, and was a worker. A member of the Communist Party after 1904, he was a member of the Baku soviet in late 1905. He was active in the petroleum workers’ union and was repeatedly persecuted by the authorities. After the October Revolution he was a member of the Baku soviet and chairman of the Derbent soviet. He organized partisan fights during the occupation of southern Dagestan and Derbent by the interventionist troops and Bicherakhov’s bands. He was shot by the Turkish intervention forces.
