Cristinos
Cristinos
a political trend during the First Carlist War in Spain (1833–40) uniting the followers of the regent Maria Cristina, the mother of Queen Isabella II. Adherents of the Cristinos included representatives of the aristocracy and officials who were against the particularism of individual provinces and the power of the higher clergy, a considerable part of the generals and of the army, liberal strata of the gentry and the intelligentsia, the bourgeoisie, and the democratic elements of the urban population.
