Brimmer, Andrew Felton Brimmer, Andrew Felton(1926– ) economist, educator; born in Newellton, La. A sharecropper's son, he served two years in the army before earning a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Washington, and in 1957, a Ph.D. from Harvard. He worked as an economist for the Federal Reserve Board and taught economics at Michigan State University. In 1966 he became a member of the Federal Reserve Board, where he followed a moderate course on monetary policy, especially on issues involving taxation, government spending, and inflation. He left the board in 1976 to establish his own investment/consultant firm, Brimmer & Co. |
