Dubkovetskii, Fedor Ivanovich

Born Apr. 20 (May 2), 1894, in the village of Zarozhany, in present-day Khotin Raion, Chernovtsy Oblast; died Mar. 6, 1960, in the town of Tal’noe, Cherkassy Oblast. One of the initiators of the kolkhoz movement in the Ukraine, chairman of the Zdobutok Zhovtnia Kolkhoz in Tal’noe Raion, Cherkassy Oblast. Twice named Hero of Socialist Labor (1951 and 1958). Be-came a member of the CPSU in 1926.

From 1917 to 1920, Dubkovetskii was in the Red Army, and he took part in the Khotin Uprising of 1919 against the Rumanian occupation forces. In 1922 he organized the first association in Tal’noe Raion for the joint farming of land and was elected its chairman. Subsequently this association was reorganized as the Zdobutok Zhovtnia Kolkhoz, and Dubkovetskii was its chairman up to 1941 and beginning again in 1945. This kolkhoz, a participant in the Ail-Union Agricultural Exhibition and the Exhibition of the Achievements of the National Economy of the USSR, has been awarded certificates of merit and prizes. Dubkovetskii was a delegate to the Nineteenth, Twentieth, and Twenty-first Congresses of the CPSU and served as a deputy to the first, third, and fourth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He was awarded two Orders of Lenin, and a monument was erected to him in Tal’noe. A kolkhoz museum has been opened in Dubkovetskii’s apartment. He wrote On the Paths to Communism (literary revision by V. P. Min’ko, 1949), Born by October (1957), and Days of Toil on the Zdobutok Zhovtnia Kolkhoz (1957).
