cell-poor zone cell-poor zonethe zone of the pulp located between the cell-rich zone (q.v.) and the odontoblastic zone; it is normally devoid of cells, although during reparative dentin formation, fibroblasts (and occasionally mesenchymal cells) pass through the cell-poor zone to replace dead odontoblasts. |
