AGENT AND PATIENT. This phrase is used to indicate the state of a person whois required to do a thing, and is at the same time the person to whom it isdone; as, when a man is indebted to another, and he appoints him hisexecutor, the latter is required to pay the debt in his capacity ofexecutor, and entitled to receive it in his own right, he is then agent andpatient.
