clitoral release
clitoral release
A female-to-male transgender surgical procedure (an alternative to phalloplasty) similar to metoidioplasty but unaccompanied by urethral extension. The procedure is generally performed after a period of testosterone therapy, which enlarges the clitoris and its extended erectile tissue (the so-called clitoral legs); the clitoris is then freed from its normal position and moved forward to approximate the location of a penis.Pros
Shorter procedure, less expensive, fewer complications (compared to phalloplasty and metoidioplasty), retained genital orgasm.
Cons
The resulting penis is too small for penetrative sex; the erection is not as hard as that of a proper penis or a phalloplastic penis; urination while standing is impossible.
