Central Asian Race
Central Asian Race
a subdivision of the Mongoloid race. The Central Asian race includes the Mongols of the People’s Republic of China and the Mongolian People’s Republic and the Kalmyks, Buriats, Yakuts, Tuvinians, Khakass, and Altáis. The members of the race have pronounced Mongoloid features; of less than average height, they have large faces and are moderately brachycephalic. In the third and fourth centuries, the Central Asian race spread from Central Asia to the west, where it mixed with various Europeoid groups (seeRACES OF MAN).
