Evgeniia Bosh

Born Aug. 11 (23), 1879, in Ochakov; died Jan. 5, 1925, in Moscow. Active participant in the revolutionary movement in Russia. Born into the family of a mechanical engineer. Member of the Communist Party from 1901. Member from 1909 and secretary from 1910 of the Kiev committee of the RSDLP. Subjected to repression.

In 1914, Bosh escaped from exile and went abroad. In January 1915 she participated in the Conference of Foreign Sections of the RSDLP in Bern. After the February Revolution of 1917, she was a member of the Kiev committee of the RSDLP (Bolshevik) and of the Kiev soviet. She was a delegate to the Seventh (April) All-Russian Conference of the RSDLP (Bolshevik). From April 1917 she chaired the Kiev Oblast committee of the party. She was a delegate to the Sixth Congress of the RSDLP (Bolshevik). She participated in the preparation of the armed uprisings against the Provisional Government for Soviet power in Kiev, Vinnitsa, and other cities. She was a member of the Kiev military revolutionary committee from November 1917. From December 1917 she chaired the Kiev Oblast committee of the RSDLP (Bolshevik). At the First All-Ukrainian Congress of Soviets, she was elected a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Ukraine and people’s secretary of internal affairs of the Soviet government of the Ukraine. In 1918 she joined with the “left Communists.” Heading a detachment of the Red Guard, she withdrew—giving battle—in the face of the occupiers’ offensive in the Ukraine. During the Civil War, she was engaged in political work in the Red Army; she was a member of the Astrakhan provincial committee of the RCP (Bolshevik). She was a delegate to the Eighth Congress of the RCP (Bolshevik). In 1919 she was a member of the Defense Council of the Lithuanian-Byelorussian Republic. From March 1920 she was a member of the Central Committee of Vserabotzemles (the All-Russian Producers’ Union of Land and Lumber Workers). In 1923 she adhered to the Trotskyist opposition.
