Central Forecasting Institute

 

a scientific research institution that developed methods of meteorological, hydrological, and agrometeorological forecasting between 1936 and 1965. The institute was organized on the basis of the Central Weather Bureau, which was founded in 1930. Until 1943, it was called the Central Weather Institute. In 1965, the institute was merged with the World Meteorological Center and became the Hydrometeorological Scientific Research Center of the USSR.
