释义 | Fellers, Carl R.Fellers, Carl R. (Raymond)(1893–1960) bacteriologist; born in Hastings, N.Y. He worked at several jobs including researching the safety of canned foods for the National Canners Association in Seattle (1921–24) before settling at Massachusetts State College (now the University of Massachusetts) and Agricultural Experiment Station in Amherst in 1926. He helped found the Institute of Food Technology (1939). In 1953 he led efforts to establish a fisheries school and laboratory at the University of Massachusetts. In 1957 he retired to private consulting. He invented methods for pasteurizing dried foods and canning Atlantic crab and he encouraged the cranberry industry to use culls for processed cranberry products. |
