DictionarySeebeB-display B-displayA radar CRT (cathode-ray tube) display in which the bearing is displayed on the horizontal axis while the vertical axis represents the range. This type of display is used in AI (airborne interception) radars. Range is measured vertically up the CRT while the target azimuth is relative to the given datum (i.e., aircraft foreand-aft axis). A vertical time base sweeps horizontally across the tube in synchronization with a scanner moving in azimuth relative to the given datum. beacon i. An aeronautical light arranged, either through optical design or mechanical motion, to be visible to all azimuths, either continuously or consecutively, to designate a particular point on the surface of the earth. It emits a distinctive, or characteristic, signal used to determine bearings, courses, or locations and guides, orients, or warns aircraft in flight. ii. A structure, building, or station where such a device is mounted or located.B-E
