(Munţii Codrului), mountains in Rumania, the western spur of the Western Rumanian Mountains. Length, about 50 km; maximum altitude, 1,112 m (Mt. Ple§u). The mountains are composed of sandstone, limestone, and volcanic and crystalline rock. The region has karst. Oak and beech forests, which have been greatly depleted, grow on the slopes.
