Cable Terminals
Cable Terminals
devices for terminating the strands ofcommunications cables on contacts to which the appropriatecircuits of communications apparatus are connected. Cable ter-minals consist of sets of contact clamps and pins mounted interminal blocks made of an insulating material (moldings). Con-necting or cross-connecting wires are fastened to the outside of the terminal blocks by screws or solder. In long-distance junc-tion boxes, connections are made by special prongs or plug-and-socket units. Some cable terminal devices (protective strips orcable junction boxes) also provide protection of communicationlines against lightning discharges and dangerous electric volt-ages.
