geochemical disease geochemical disease (jē″ō-kem′ĭ-kăl) A disease that primarily affects people who live where they are exposed to unusually high concentrations of specific minerals in the air, soil, or water that are not found in high concentrations elsewhere. Examples include fluorosis (in Sri Lanka) and iodine deficiency (in many tropical countries and in the north central U.S.). |
