geriatric massage

geriatric massage

Any form of massage administered to elder patients, who often suffer long-term deleterious effects of poor nutrition, harsh climate, pollution, accidents, intense physical activity and trauma, as well as emotional and financial crises, all of which impact on the immune system. Geriatric massage is intended to improve circulation, “detoxify” cells and tissues, stimulate lymphatic drainage, soften indurated muscles, improve joint mobility, lower blood pressure and increase energy; it may be used to treat arthritis, hip and other joint problems, myofibrositis, neck and shoulder pain, poor circulation and stiffening of the vertebral column.
