Group Operation

 

an operation executed on an electronic digital computer with one instruction over a group of operands (additives, multipliers, and so on). Group operations are divided into transfer operations (the exchange of data files among individual parts of a computer—for example, between arithmetic and memory units) and arithmetic and logical operations. In group operations it is not necessary to provide an instruction for each operand; the selection of the type of operation, the volume and location of the original information, and the location of the results is sufficient. The necessary transformations of the original instructions are made schematically without addressing to the computer memory.
