Hyesan

a city in the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea. Capital of Yanggang-do (Yanggang Province). Population, more than 50,000. Hyesan is a transportation center. Industry is represented by sawmilling, machine building, food processing, and the production of textiles (especially linen), furniture, and paper. Coal and iron ore are mined nearby.
