1 Informal. A close friend or trusted assistant; a partner, an accomplice. Used especially to refer to one of two such people; compare right bower. Now rare.
2 Euchre. The jack of the suit which is the same colour as the trump suit, the second (or third) highest-ranking card in euchre.
