In Japan, a form of wrestling in which a wrestler wins a bout by forcing his opponent outside a circle or making him touch the ground with any part of his body except the soles of his feet. Freq. attrib., esp. as sumo wrestler, sumo wrestling; also absol., a sumo wrestler.
