floridean, a.|flɒˈrɪdɪən| Also Floridean. [f. mod.L. Florideæ (f. L. flōridus florid) + -an.] Of or pertaining to the Florideæ (cf. florideous a.) (now often considered a subclass of the Rhodophyceæ or red algæ); floridean starch, a reserve polysaccharide found in many red algæ.
