gallium|ˈgælɪəm| [mod.L.; said to be f. L. gallus cock, a translation of Lecoq.] A soft, tough, bluish-white metal, easily melted, discovered by M. Lecoq de Boisbaudran (1875) in a zinc-blende from the Pyrenees.
